Privacy Policy for ArchiveX
ArchiveX (the "app") is a file and archive manager for iPhone and iPad. It creates ZIP files, extracts ZIP, RAR and 7Z archives, and lets you manage and preview files. This policy explains what information the app uses, where it goes, and the choices you have.
The short version: the app has no accounts and no servers of its own. Your files are processed only on your device and are never uploaded. The only third party that receives data is Google AdMob, which shows the ads in the free version of the app.
Your files stay on your device
- Creating, extracting, previewing, renaming, moving, copying and deleting files all happen locally on your iPhone or iPad. The developer never receives your files, their names or their contents.
- Files you open in ArchiveX from other apps, the Files app or the share sheet are copied into the app's own storage, which you can also see in the Files app under On My iPhone (or iPad) › ArchiveX. Files you save to iCloud Drive or another location are handled by Apple or that storage provider, under their own terms.
- Passwords you type to protect or open an archive are used only for that operation, kept in memory, and never stored, logged or sent anywhere.
- The app stores a short list of recently opened or created files (file name, location inside the app's storage, and date) so they can be shown on the Home screen, plus simple settings such as your sort order and appearance. You can remove recent items at any time.
- The app does not use your location, contacts, camera, microphone or photo library, and does not request access to them. It only reaches files you explicitly choose.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The free version shows ads provided by Google AdMob. To show and measure ads and to prevent fraud, the Google Mobile Ads SDK collects and shares with Google information such as:
- Device identifiers. ArchiveX does not ask for permission to track you, so Apple's advertising identifier (IDFA) is not available to the app or to Google.
- IP address, from which an approximate location may be derived
- Interactions with ads and basic app usage, and diagnostic information such as crash and performance data
Google uses this information as described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and the Google Privacy Policy. The ad SDK never receives your files or their contents.
Purchases
"ArchiveX Remove Ads" is a one-time in-app purchase handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. The developer does not receive your payment details. The app only checks with Apple whether the purchase was made, so that ads can be turned off and restored on your other devices.
Your choices
- Consent (EEA, UK, Switzerland and applicable US states): where required, you are asked how ads may use your personal data the first time you open the app. You can change your choice at any time in Settings › Ad Privacy Choices inside the app.
- No ads at all: the one-time Remove Ads purchase stops all ads, and with them the ad SDK's ad requests.
- Deleting your data: deleting files in the app removes them from your device. Uninstalling the app deletes everything it stored, including recent files and settings.
Sharing and selling of data
The developer does not collect your personal information on any server and does not sell it. Apart from the ad data handled by Google AdMob as described above, no data is shared with third parties.
Security
Password-protected ZIP files created by the app use AES-256 encryption. Archives are checked before extraction so that they cannot write files outside the folder you chose, and extracted files are never run by the app.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and the developer does not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us and we will help remove it.
Changes to this policy
